Rural natural swimming pool, Dordogne (Périgord Noir)
We built this natural pool in a rural open area. The round shape finished with edging stones from a local quarry gives a 'soft' natural character to the whole. We preserved the existing plants in the garden as much as possible. The filter has been placed on the east side of the swimming pond so that the dirt is blown into the filter by the west wind. The corten steel overflow is an extra option which gives the pond a more luxurious appearance and at the same time ensures good aeration of the water.
A staircase has been installed to make it easier to get in and out of the pool and in the plant filter of lava stones (pouzzolane) some large flints from the neighbouring field have been placed for decoration. As you can see from the photos, the water is crystal clear and you can see the bottom of the pool very clearly at a depth of 2.2 metres.
